Default Adding Value to Property in Bloemfontein

Property in Bloemfontein is about as central as you can get in this country. You are only a few hours’ drive from both Johannesburg, and Durban, while the city’s airport will put you in touch with the rest of the country.

But since Bloemfontein is situated in central South Africa, it is known for extreme temperatures – very hot summers with thunderstorm in the afternoon, and very cold winters as snow falls on the surrounding Free State mountain range.

Therefore a great way of adding value to your property in Bloemfontein, would be by preparing the house for these extreme temperatures. Many people might immediately think air conditioning and heaters, but with electricity prices on the rise, a better option would be to go the sustainable route.

The first step would be proper insulation, or ensuring that you will keep the heat inside during the winter, and outside during the summer. If the heat can’t escape during the winter, you will be able to heat up the house much quicker, and to retain the temperature and therefore use much less electricity to keep heaters on. The same goes for air conditioning in the summer.

Another easy step is installing a solar geyser, or solar panels. Bloemfontein falls in the summer rainfall area, but is prone to daily thunderstorms, rather than cloudy and overcast weather for days on end. This means you are almost certain to have a good number of hours’ sunshine everyday throughout the year to power the solar panels.

Still considering rising electricity prices, you can also add value to your property in Bloemfontein by installing a gas stove, rather than an electrical one. Electrical stoves, along with electrical geysers, are the major culprits when it comes to electricity consumption. You could also consider getting a fireplace, rather than a heater. Not only will it once again prevent that heaters chase up the electricity bill, but it also creates a great atmosphere.
