Default Any Tips for First Time Buyer?

The first thing buyers should do is determine how much they can afford. It is important to factor in the down payment, loan origination fee, closing costs, realtor commissions and homeowners insurance.

Not to mention deposit, mortgage arrangement fee, survey or valuation costs, solicitors fees, stamp duty and buildings insurance! It's a costly business, wherever you are.

In England we don't "close" so there can't be any closing costs.

Certainly no "realtor commissions", whatever they are.

It's good to have someone reliable to assist you (for example come along for property viewing). It doesn't have to be an expert, could be a family member or a friend, who will be able to asses and advise. They might be able to notice things that you can't see.

Also a good mortgage adviser too so they are able to walk you through the whole process and make sure it goes smoothly & provide expert advice on which lender to use.

Easily the best thing you can do is speak to those who've 'bought the teeshirt', such as parents and siblings.

Possibly the best piece of advice though is not to get overwhelmed by the whole process. First time buyers a just one purchase away from homeowners!
