Default Are buy to let properties a good investment?

Buy to let properties are a good investment option. At a time when stock market prices bounce around, property prices have demonstrated steady growth, even amongst political uncertainty. It is getting more and more difficult for tenants to get a foot onto the property market with property values increasing and tighter guidelines around mortgage lending. With this, the average age of a first time buyer is increasing and these individuals are forced into renting for much longer than they would have hoped for. This is fantastic news for buy to let properties. The huge demand means that rents are pushed up as the supply of new rental properties cannot meet this demand.

Depends which way you look at it. People forget that you have stamp duty, broker fees, lawyer fees and possibly agent fees just to get in. Then you have income tax every year which is incraesing making buy to let less attractive. On top of that upon resale you have capital gains tax and then if you die you have inheritance tax. Do the maths as the only good part that i can see is that someone pays offf your mortgage but you give a portion back of that in tax and capital gains.
