Default At the end of my tether

I had an offer on my house 2 months ago from one of those online companies that say they buy your house for cash really quickly.

As I need a bigger house, and would need to redecorate if I were to put this one on the market, I accepted their offer even though it was below the value. I plan to use this as a deposit on another house.

I found a house I liked, put in an offer, got the mortage sorted, in fact, everything was ready to complete tomorrow morning, both the sale and the purchase of the new property.

This afternoon at 4.30 I got a call from my solicitor saying the buyer (the online company) were dragging their feet and could not promise completion tomorrow. I rang up the company only to be told that they could proceed with the purchase, but they would need to make me a lower offer. This offer is not enough for the purchase of the new house. The reason they gave is that the second survey came back with a lower valuation - yes they did insist on having 2 surveys!!!! I was also told that my house would need to be fumigated just because I have pets!!!! even though I keep my pets (and my house!!!!) clean

However, the seller of the property I'm buying is being quite understanding about the whole thing, and has even agreed to let me buy this at a lower price, which means that I could potentially still complete everything tomorrow.

But because I was told all this at the very last minute, I cannot get hold of my solicitors or the people from the company that are supposed to be buying my house!!!!!

I am so stressed out with all this that I am ill. How can they play with people's lives like this. Oh and this is not the first time this has happened, we were originally scheduled to complete last Friday.

I don't feel I can trust this company any more. I just don't know what to do right now.

Has anyone had this sort of experience from these so called sell property fast type of companies? I feel like I am being scammed.

You probably are. they exist to make money and will pay a fraction of the real market value of your home.

And no one can legislate for how slow solicitors can be!

I've had the removal people waiting for the last two hours and they are still messing me about. They are telling me one thing and my solicitor another. I can't believe that they can get away with this sort of behaviour

Solicitors have their own pace of working Im afraid, usually a lot slower than what you would like them to move at. Lets just hope there are no more problems for you!
