I live as a tenant in my sister's house and she has agreed to sell me the house on a special scheme where I pay her a £20k deposit and monthly instalments of £1k for 4 years. ( I can justify the deposit + the instalment to the tax people as I'm self employed and have a nice income* )
She will transfer the title deeds over to my name when I pay her the deposit. I am basically looking for the most economical way to go about the whole process. I am already saving on any estate agent fees, survey fees, admin fees and most importantly the dreaded mortgage interest payments and the long term commitment. From my initial research, I can tell that the land registry has now made it easier for the transfer process to go through by putting everything online. I don't want to spend any un-necessary fees at all and wish to go about the whole thing myself e.g. filling the transfer forms myself if possible so my questions are; - is it a legal requirement to have solicitors involved? - is there special conditions attached to a sale/ transfer between family members? |
