Default Buying a property where management company is dissolved

Hi all

Am new to the forum but thought it might be worth posting to see if anyone has any advice.

We are currently in the process of buying a house on a private road. We've had the offer accepted, the completion date agreed but we have not exchanged. Having had all the searches completed a property management company was flagged up who is responsible for the private road and sewerage etc. Normally the company would need to sign a document to ok the sale of the house.

However, the management company was dissolved a year ago. None of the residents of the street or the vendors seem to know anything about it. Solicitors being a bit slow to try and find out who is now responsible for that piece of land.

Basically until we find out no one on that road can legally sell their houses.

Anyone experienced a similar thing? Or does anyone have any good advice. Solicitors saying they are submitting more docs to the land registry to try and find out more.

We're considering trying to find out a bit by ourselves via the companies house records. If the dissolved company did not make arrangements for it's assets before being wound-up, would the Directors be liable for negligence?

Thanks, sorry, a complicated one.

Jenny
