Well that depends on how secure the prison is, and also do I really like the place that I am staying enough for me to adapt of living nearby a prison?

I know I would not want to live near a prison. I would imagine if something ever did go wrong the value of your house would drop dramatically. That and I would just not be comfortable with the whole idea of a prison near where I live.

Considering the safety of my children wherever the location is, I would not live near a prison area. Although the security might be tighter here, you'll never know when some prisoners get loose and you might become a hostage.

I wouldn't like it.. Yeah. IF there is an escape, most likely some of them will run into your neighborhood and start grabbing the phone, car, etc..

Default Living near prison

This is a good question. I really never thought of it before. But for sure I would not like living near a prison. I would just feel really unsafe. I am sure you can get some great deals on homes, but I think it would be really hard to sell them.

You're not paranoid at all... in fact, that's the first thing I thought of when I saw the subject line. I really wouldn't choose to put myself or my family in a position to have an escaped prisoner running through MY front door for shelter or a hostage when they escape. It happens.

I think I'd be very paranoid living near a prison. The problems with overcrowding, escapes, and bodged releases. Not the sort of events I'd willingly want to live near.

True, but what if you found the house of your dreams nearby? Would you compromise any?

That's a good point - I think it's the old argument of house vs location. I think the right location is paramount to find the right house. Last thing I'd want is to think I'd found the house of my dreams, only to find there were serious enough concerns around to impact that perception.
