Default covenant problem with conservatory

bought house oct 2007,has a view.
spoke to sales for dimensoins of garden with view of building conservatory.
recieved advice of sales and building supervisor.
had sales staff in for cup of tea.
this week recieved letter stating not recieved written permission as per covenant,which states not allowed to alter structure of building.
appologised and asked for written permissiontold to take down conservotory in 7 days!
contacted cons suppliers and asked why not advised of such covenants,
not interested,got there money.
please help/advise where i go from here

Why should conservatory supplier know about the covenants?

Your solicitors should have told you about them when you bought. Did they not provide you with a written report which should have explained (amongst other things) that you needed consent from the builders for extensions etc? A conservatory is an extension.

Why does builder want conservatory removed? Does it look hideous? Find out what their real concern is and to offer to deal with that by maybe altering the conservatory.
