I currently own a top floor ex local authority flat in Scotland, there are 6 flats in the building and 4 of which are still council owned. Any repairs required to the building or gardens etc are maintained by the council and I would pay my share.
My question is this - is my flat leasehold or freehold - I am not sure if it is either as I do not own the building or the grounds and I do not have a lease for any length of time I just own my flat outright. Does that mean the Council are the freeholders? |

It could be different in Scotland (different legal system) but in England you would probably have a leasehold interest (possibly commonhold, though) with the council or a housing association as freeholder
