Without being nerdy gas is a c class fire, so best tackled with a Dry Powder Fire Extinguisher...hope that helps!

Hi.
Is this suitable for a gas fire?:
EI531 EI Fire Extinguisher 600g EI531 - Robert Dyas -

On the can it says for "gaseous fires, if no risk of explosion" !!!

Thumbs up Re: Fire extinguisher for gas cooker

It really does depend on why you want the fire extinguisher, its not often that a gas stove will set on fire. More likely is something being cooked setting on fire like a chip pan or the like. For a chip fire a fire blanket would be the best option. If your gas stove has issues i would look to a gas fitter rather than having a fire extinguisher. Powder extinguishers are the messiest extinguishers you can buy and if you used one you would find you would be throwing out most of the equipment in your room. If it is purely a gas cannister with a gas stove outlet all you need is a water extinguisher because gas wont be effected. If you call up your local Fire station they have lots of information on what you would need and will often come out to your house for free to advise on the correct solution.

I would go with small fire blanket, can be easily stowed on back of any cup'd door.
