Again, thanks for the input. As mentioned in the first post we would be cash buyers so deposits etc are not an issue. It is more when to employ a solicitor and how exactly the money transfer works that I am not clear about.

Hi first timer,

The best thing you can do is to actually ring a solicitor and have a chat with them. They'll be very helpful and willing to go through absolutely everything with you. It's great that you're a cash buyer...youre in a very enviable bargaining position compared to most first time buyers.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, try to find rather than appoint a solicitor you like BEFORE you go property hunting because the ability to move very quickly makes you a desirable buyer to vendors.

As part of your learning curve (by the way it will all seem easy soon) have a long hard look at property auctions. Go for a couple of dry runs and do your homework.
