Default Forum styling

Hi,

I think you need to change the styling slightly on the forum...

When I come to the forum home page, I cannot quickly see which forumforum has new items, without checking the date/time stamp of the last message.

Many other forums tend to highlight changed forum by having regular text to mark as all messages read, and bold text to mark as there are new messages.

Is it possible to change that? You will probably get a lot more messages being posted that way as people can quickly see which forums they don't need to go into since last message, thereby saving them time to spend elsewhere in the site, if you see what I mean.

Thanks.

Hi,

Yep, I saw your thread for the mods...

Perhaps your own threads that require mod have a link or something in. I noticed from past threads that there was a spamming prob. Perhaps this is a way to help stop spam getting through.

No, they didn't mainly because I haven't got a clue how to put links into a message

Hhmmm!!! Dunno then.

To put a link into a message, you see the globe and paper clip icon, click that. Then, in the popup, you enter the URL.

You can also put a link in your signature (check your profile).

Now that you have 15 posts, you should be able to see signature links (like mine) and I think you can also PM (Private Message) people.

Doh!!!

I have just seen at the bottom of the forum home page, 2 coloured blocks (quite close colours unfortunately) with "Forum has new posts" and "Forum has no new posts" (or words similar).

This will show the forum as having posts or not, but as the colours are similar, it is not quite as easy to see.

Admin... you can change the icon to represent new posts and not new posts. Perhaps something like a picture of a house, in colour for new posts and monochrome for no new posts. It will certainly draw the eye much better than the similarly coloured blocks.

Good point - I'll have a look at changing these so that it's more obvious.
