Default Gifting a Property

Just a general enquiry can anyone help? My Mum was widowed in May, she has health problems and could no longer manage stairs etc. I have moved 200 miles to be near her as she is now alone I am the only child. Her house is paid for and mortgage free, she has moved to a warden controlled bungalow and I am living in her house round the corner, she has recently expressed a wish to gift the house to me to avoid having to go through probate when the time comes. (she has made a will and I am the sole beneficiary) Is this possible to do and are there any draw backs to doing this?

I'm honestly not sure about this - best bet would be to engage the services of an accountant, who should be able to advise for free whether it is possible, and then roll everything into action is possible for a small fee in order to complete it.

2c, and welcome to Home Move.
