lease extension timescales

i am in the process of buying a house where the seller is moving to a flat and their seller is renewing the lease at the same time .
i have been told that the amount and terms have been agreed and we are all just waiting for the paperwork to be done.
this is starting to take time and i was wondering if anyone knows how long this process takes as we are under pressure to move out from our current accommodation, we are now 3 months into this process if that help.

I'm afraid that leasehold extensions always seem to take an inordinate amount of time, usually because (a) the freeholder has little incentive to move quickly and (b) by extension, nor do his/her solicitors

Provided the statutory procedure has been followed, however, the freeholder cannot refuse the extension, and if the amount of the payment has been agreed there is no need to worry that the whole thing will collapse. I'm afraid you need to be patient while the paperwork is being completed, but it should all come good in the end

It can often vary between two months and six months depending on the complexity of the case.
