You have two choices really. Try a mattress in a shop, and pay a very high price. Or buy it on line, and pay a fraction of the price. The choice is yours.

The compromise is to buy on line from a seller who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee, that allows you to unpack and sleep on the mattress. This way it is in the sellers interest to make sure that you make the right choice the first time. Otherwise it will cost them money.

The trouble is that price quite often doesn't relate directly to quality in the bed industry. Most of the big brand names and big retailers are very expensive (even in their fake, so called sales). You are far better buying from smaller independent manufacturers, who still take pride in their work, rather than being production line workers who just don't care. So if you stick to the smaller independents, and buy from an on line retailer, then you can get very high quality mattresses for a fraction of the price you could pay otherwise.

JUst make sure you buy from a seller who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee, that allows you to unpack and sleep on the mattress, as most retailers don't.
