Default messed about

WE sold our house in feb this year and because of a small dispute about land registary many years ago forgot to put a peice of land into my name and remained in the name of the original owners (he died about 1973ish) the sols acting for the buiyers of our property didnt flag this up until the day of completion and they pulled out at the 11th hour. telling us 2 weeks ago we had to be out by the 9th april and this was set in stone (though we did manage to extend for the 12th) can we do anything about this as |I had to leave my job in a rush (now unemployed) as we were moving over 100 miles away. WE have put the house back on the market and getting this land thing sorted. Can we claim any form of compenstion for all the aggrivation they casused????

If contracts were exchanged, then there was an agreement that protected you - unfortunately, if nothing was signed, then I don;t think there's really anything you can do.

My mum just had a similar situation where the seller agreed to move out on a specific date, etc. However, the day before, the seller decided they'd never agreed anything!

Luckily, my mum found something much better the following day so she's happy it didn't go through.
