Default Planning application - I'm fuming!!!

Hi all

I've been trying to sell my 1 bed flat since Feb 2010. In the last few weeks I finally got my first offer, agreed a price and the selling process is well under way.

Yesterday I got home and found a letter from the council advising that my management company have put in a planning application to build a 2 bed flat on the side of my building.

I'm absolutely fuming, this could well scupper the sale and frighten off the buyer....what can I do? if the sale falls through can I claim any compensation?

Why should you be able to do so?

You say "my management company". Is it a residents' company where you are a member of the company? If so you could ask some searching questions about when and how the decision was made.

Why should I be able to? ----- because their application will (potentially) cost me to lose the sale thats taken me 18 months to get to.

We have a management company that runs our buildings....we do have a residents association, but we have no power as the management company have basically said that every resident could want something put in place but they dont have to listen and dont have to act on it.

You should object to the planning application.
It is their land so they can make an application, getting approval is another matter!
Make a nuisance of yourself!

I'm planning to, I think most residents are against the proposal so we'll kick up a stink.....its just annoying as this isnt the first time they've tried to get planning permission for this piece of land and this time it could cost me my house sale.
