Presentation ?
Just how much does presentation matter to prospective buyers ? Obviously a house needs to be well presented, tidy, clean. I have de cluttered my home, I have tidied and improved the garden. I have improved areas which needed a lift.
Most of the decor is quite neutral, but I have a young boy and girl so I have a pink room and a blue room ! the main one is cream. My main lounge is a large room with laminate flooring, two walls are cream, but two walls are a contrasting red. I worry that (as the estate agent took very few pics) people with little imagination may be turned off by a strong colour like this, I love it and it is tastefully done, but should I paint the whole thing cream ? to neutralise it ? I feel it will rob the room of character, but I suppose it would make the room look even bigger.
It is a new(ish) house, built 2000, all walls are in good condition and simply painted with emulsion, no wallpapers, it would be very easy to change colours people don't like. Am I worrying over nothing or do some buyers not have the imagination to visualise their own colours etc. I can walk into a house and imagine what I would do, I don't think I'd be affected by any decor unless it would be too costly to change.
Any comments or advice gratefully accepted !
