Default Record mortgage lending
The Council of Mortgage Lenders have reported the highest month of mortgage lending since records began, with a record £32.2 billion in mortgage lending reported for June:

It's important to note that doesn't reflect a general boom in house sales - but the report does illustrate a general strong property market underlining the figures.

Remortgages added substantially to the figures, and also a property boom happening in London was reported as an additional major factor in the lending figures.

I constantly hear about increased mortgage lending so maybe more than anything this means the amount of lending is steadily rising.

Indeed - I really thought we'd see a cooling on lending, but it doesn't seem to be happening right now. Unless a lot of people are remortgaging because they can no longer afford to keep up.
