Nah, they just need to remove the quick search, and force everyone to use advanced (!)

Well it would be a lot cheaper than each office having to pay several hundred pounds a month !

I tend to focus on a general area - for example, I keep watching the Highlands in general.

The "quick search" on the remax-scotland.com site demands I sort through a list of every Scottish town. Not user friendly IMO.

So it's not the whole 'website' that's a nightmare, just that you (and others) don't like one feature of it..... and don't want to use the others.

Yes they are on Rightmove in Plymouth. I assume that putting all your properties on rightmove for a month is cheaper than one page on one day in the local paper!!

That's fair 'nuff.

Most folks apparently won't look past the first page of search engine results. Sometimes what they're looking for will be on page 2, and just one mouse click away. Sometimes you gotta look further than page 1.

It's in the nature of a 'quick' or 'simple' search. What else would you have the Quick Search do, without transforming it into an advanced search?

You can get a Highland-wide search using the map search, or the Advanced Search. If you modify Quick Search so that it searches by regions, then by whatever else, and does all the fancy stuff, it becomes an Advanced Search, doesn't it?

It's sorta like saying Notepad isn't user friendly because it won't allow bold, italic, tables, etc; Word will do all the fancy stuff, but if you bolt all that onto Notepad, it's no longer a 'quick' program.

Nope - it's simply the case of being user-unfriendly.

On the Notepad example - it's kind of like imagining that the first time Word loads up, it behaves exactly live Notepad, until you go through the settings to revert to the normal Word look. Every time you fire it up.

You seem kind of negative on the fact that users of the site report an unfriendly user experience - but isn't the solution not to blame users, but instead adapt to them?
