Default Social Housing

Hi all, i currently live in a social housing property with my wife and kids. we have just been told by our landlords that the area in which my home sits is going to be redeveloped, they have basically given us our marching orders. We have lived in the property for 6 years now and have a secured tenancy, never falling behind in payments. we dont get Housing benefit and we just barely break even, they have told us that they are not giving us any priority on the housing list and we should start looking at the private market for a house. We have little over £350 in savings and cannot afford the £1500 deposit and first months rent on a private place, let alone the moving costs.. Is there any way we can get them to slow down?? and give us a little breathing space.
