You shouldn't be angry with yourself lyns.

Solictors deal with all types of clients, some are very experienced, others are not, some are young first time buyers who simply haven't a clue how the house buying process works.

Many of their clients, even those that have bought property before, would be completely unaware that mortgage offers even have such things as expiry dates and most wouldn't be mindful of this throughout the process when there's so much else to organise and think about.

There's plenty of other people out there who would have been caught out in the same way as you given the circumstances. I'm not so sure that there are quite so many solicitors out there who would have also been caught out by it though.

We do get stuck with the responsibility for lots of things but it is difficult to see why the solicitor should not have spotted the point and warned the client at an earlier stage about the problem.
