Stamp Duty
Ouch - now there's a kicker - I thought Stamp Duty was to be paid by the *seller*, not the *buyer*.
I've been keeping an eye out on properties between £200-£300k though I've no idea yet what my exact budget range may be.
Still, certainly a sobering thought about anything over £250,000, if we actually tried to stretch that far, to realise there's an additional £6000-£8000 to add on top of the sale price for taxes.
Residential property - purchase price Rate of Stamp Duty Land Tax
up to £125,000 = 0%
£125,001 - £250,000 = 1%
£250,001 - £500,000 = 3%
£500,001 or more = 4%
