Default Take the time to compare

Compare mortgage offerings from more than one place. They really can differ. Also make sure to work on cleaning up your credit if you have any problems for awhile before applying.

That's the first thing you need to do, compare prices. Know what is the market trend. Get all the facts and uncover any hidden fees that may incur. Choose a mortgage plan that will benefit you more in the long run.

We had to do that clean up our credit before we bought. The nice thing was is if you contact them alot of times they will tell you what it is you need to get off your credit before you start applying. At least the one we contacted told us what we needed to do.

This is so true. Don't ever settle for a mortgage unless you're completely comfortable with all the terms. And yes, good idea to check the credit, too. We didn't even think of doing that before applying but luckily all was well with that.

Important to check the small print with so many mortgages around at the moment!

This is one of the major life changing issues. For example, my aunt just went to an agent and when she was approved said YEA, I got a house and that was it... Later the local bank told her that they could get her a much lower interest rate and she wouldn't have had any closing costs.. What a waste of money..If only she would have compared places.
