Default Timber Frame ... is it noisy?

We're thinking of buying a flat on the 4th floor of a 5 floor building but the developers have switched to building it with timber frame having started in concrete. Should we be concerned about potential noise issues and are there any additional issues we should consider? Thanks

Noise issues in new builds are certainly common, but it's also quite reasonable that to expect multi-storey buildings may use lighter materials on the upper levels.

As it is a new build, I would not be too worried: the Building Regulations impose minimum requirements for sound insulation - last revised in 2003: see http://tinyurl.com/lhvqy7

If you were buying an older flat, particularly one in a converted building, then sound nuisance would be much more likely and well worth investigating thoroughly before you buyI hope this reassures you
