from a personal point of view i will recommend spain , not as an investment buy , but for a holiday home or for a permanent move , spain tick all the boxes, great weather ,cost of living is cheaper than in the UK, nowadays you get really good quality houses for a reasonable price , proximity to the UK you are not that far away from home .

Not to mention 21% unemployment, austerity measures and a government perpetually teetering on default. I have great sympathy for the ordinary, law-abiding, taxpaying, honest citizens of EU countries who struggle to keep order in their lives. However, we haven't seen the worst effects of the eurozone crisis yet and until we do, or at least know what they are likely to be, any investment abroad carries an extra and unprecedented risk.
