Wilburn Homes is a Scottish building company with various developments across Scotland.

At present they have 11 development projects ongoing at the following sites:

• Ayr
• Kinraig
• Aviemore
• Boat of Garten
• Nethybridge
• Grantown on Spey
• Culloden
• Inverness
• Munlochy

Unfortunately, due to the popularity of their houses, most of the existing developments are already sold out.

You can see why, though - they specialise in building attractive white houses, that can often have large gardens ideal for families.

The real complaint with this otherwise attractive houses is that they don't really know whether they are bungalows or villas - they tend to put some of the bedrooms on the ground floor, which isn't really what you'd expect from a detached property - other than a bungalow.

Still, the houses are large and roomy, with generous lounge space and the master bedrooms can be pretty decent, too.

The one thing that works against Milburn Homes, that I didn't really pick up on before, is their habit of designing homes with 1 or 2 bedrooms downstairs.

This means that you're basically looking at a 2 or 3 bedroom house with an extra room downstairs - or a home that is somewhere between being a bungalow and a normal detached house.

I guess you'd need to see one of the homes yourself to get an idea of suitability, but ideally I'm personally looking for something with 4 bedrooms - where all 4 bedrooms are upstairs.

And for only a £20k-£30k extra I could probably find a house like that, with an extra room downstairs, and in a more desirable area as well.

I'm hoping to visit one of their developments later in the year, so hopefully I can add to this in future.
