Developer MEPC shows commitment to environment

The UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) has confirmed that developer MEPC has become the latest organisation to join the council, which indicates its commitment as a leading sustainable developer.

Rick de Blaby, MEPC’s chief executive, said our membership of the UKGBC is part of our sustainability policy. The need for businesses to tackle the universal problem of climate change today is paramount and organisations like the UKGBC are fundamental in pushing it to the forefront.

The objective of the UKGBC, which was established in 2007, is to significantly improve the sustainability of the built environment, by radically transforming the way it is planned, designed, constructed, maintained and operated.

The organisation makes a concerted effort to monitor and report regularly on utility and energy usage, water usage and waste and recycling.

Last month, the Council introduced its new landmark eco-friendly office building at Milton Park, Oxfordshire, incorporating several energy-saving innovations, including solar powered water heating, rainwater harvesting and low energy air conditioning.
