A New Planning Reform Bill is set to benefit those wanting to improve or extend their homes.
The Bill, which comes into effect later this year, will mean homeowners have more freedom when it comes to upgrading their properties
Currently, homeowners have to seek planning permission before making any changes or extensions to their home.
The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) said this is good news and homeowners will be glad of the opportunity to create extra space in their homes.
Brian Berry of the FMB said the new legislation means that people at last can have their loft conversion and extend their kitchen by an extra three metres at the back of the house. From October this year, it will be quicker and easier to improve your home both up and out, added Mr Berry.
The Government recognises that there is a housing shortage and is trying to create more space within our existing towns and cities, concluded Mr Berry.
