Paymentshield upgrades landlords' insurance

Paymentshield has launched an upgraded version of its Landlords’ Buildings & Contents Insurance. Changes extend to new areas of cover and wider acceptance criteria.

Standard cover now includes accidental damage to locks or theft of the keys of the insured property; unauthorised use of metered electricity, gas or water; damage to gardens caused by Emergency Services; loss of metered water following damage to the property; landlord’s contents in communal areas (for policies that include contents cover).

Policyholders have free access to Eurolaw’s Legal Helpline, which can offer advice on personal legal and tax matters.

In addition, a Home Emergency Helpline service can assist with access to tradespeople should an emergency arise.

In terms of acceptance criteria, Paymentshield will now cover a wider range of tenants including students, multiple occupancy and people reliant on state benefit to pay their rent.

A 30% no claims discount can be accrued on both buildings and contents cover and finally, the policy changes have been awarded a four star rating from research agency, Defaqto.
