Those on low salaries in Tyneside, North-East now have the opportunity to purchase an affordable flat-pack home. The timber-framed BoKlok structures which cost around £150,000 will be constructed close to the Gateshead International Stadium.
The BoKlok homes will be available to those earning between £15,000 and £35,000 and who do not own a home. The homes include flats and townhouses with up to 3 bedrooms, with prices ranging from £99,500. Initially, 60 are available and further rental units are due to be released next year on the St James site.
The application process includes the completion of a form followed by an interview to establish financial status.
Alan Prole, managing director of Live Smart @ Home, the company licensed to build BoKlok properties in the UK remarked that a substantial amount of interest has already been noted on their website.
Mr Prole concluded that they guarantee that everyone who qualifies for a BoKlok home will get an equal opportunity to purchase one.
