Property prices in Andover, Hampshire, have soared in the last 12 months with an average increase in price of £42,000. The average price of a home in Andover has risen by 19% to £261,508 compared to £219,460 in 2006, according to the latest Halifax House Price Index, making it even more difficult for first-time buyers to get onto the property ladder.
In the last 12 months, house prices have risen by an average of 10.7% nationwide. However, in the south east that figure rose to 14% where the average house price is currently £259,904. It’s 32% above the UK average of £196,525.
A spokesperson for Halifax Estate Agents in Andover, considers the new average price for Andover to be high. He commented that this is quite high for an average in Andover, you can get quite a lot within the town for that amount compared to other towns, such as Winchester.
He concluded that it is very difficult these days to get onto the property ladder but there are still many first-time buyers out there trying.
