Home & Legacy Let policy awarded five stars

Defaqto, the company that undertakes research into the UK retail financial services industry, has awarded Home & Legacy’s new Let policy a five star rating.

The residential insurance product was launched in January and is available through intermediaries.

It can be taken out by individuals who are letting their main or second home as well as individuals or businesses that own and let one or more investment properties.

Policies can be set up on a standalone basis as there is no requirement to be an existing policyholder with Home & Legacy.

Barry O’Neill, the insurer’s managing director, says: “Our policy covers more than the usual buildings and contents risks including, as standard, landlord-specific legal expenses cover as well as optional cover extensions for rental ‘cash-flow’ protection. The buildings and contents cover can also be extended to include malicious damage or theft by the tenant, with a further option to cover accidental damage.”

Other features of Home & Legacy Let include: the same rates for professional, student, and housing benefit tenants; cover for multiple properties under one policy; loss of rent and alternative accommodation costs in the event of material damage to the property by an insured peril; access to 24 hour, 365 days a year, emergency domestic services and legal help lines.
