The government has confirmed its commitment to make zero-carbon homes a major feature of the UK property market over the next decade.
Proposals to build 240,000 such properties each year by 2016 have been granted by organisations such as the Home Builders Federation.
Yvette Cooper, housing minister, remarked that this commitment is a sign of the government’s sincerity in dealing with housing shortages and climate changes.
Ms Cooper added that the no-one is taking this challenge lightly but this does show the support for more affordable and sustainable housing.
A spokesperson for Shelter concluded that it is through teamwork that the benefits of environmentally sustainable housing can be delivered to all residents.
