Home move service provider, Moveme.com, has revealed that homebuyers are shunning London and opting for the coast with Tunbridge Wells topping the chart as the most in-demand area for movers.
The organisation’s migration monitor for the second quarter of 2008, also revealed that Guildford, Redhill, Plymouth and Bournemouth are popular destinations.
According to the organisation, movers were enticed by the period properties, good quality schools and fashionable restaurants.
The research also revealed that London proved the least popular destination with today’s movers, with North-west London at the bottom, followed by north London, west London, Ilford and south-east London.
Commenting on the results, Keith McNeilly, of Moveme, said areas such as Tunbridge Wells and Guildford have always been in demand among professionals and those with young children who are seeking a better quality of life and a larger family home, but still within commuting distance of London.
Mr McNeilly added that coastal towns are performing well and withstanding their value during the current housing market slowdown.
