The annual Halifax home improvement survey has stated that more homeowners are renovating their properties. Gardening and redecorating are two popular choices to smarten up their home in order to add value to their property.
According to the figures, 60% of homeowners questioned said they had carried out work on their home in the last 12 months and have added an average £5,000 onto the total value of their property.
12 months ago, only 7% of homeowners had carried out home improvements to add to the value of their property. Within a year, this figure has soared to 25%.
It appears that property owners are in favour of doing simpler improvements such as redecorating but there are also indications that homeowners are seeing their gardens as an extension of their home.
