Ballymore, an international property development and investment group, has just been granted planning permission for two major development projects in East London.
A spectacular 45-storey twisting, residential tower on the former site of the London Arena in the Docklands will provide private apartments. The development at Baltimore Wharf will also include an adjacent building containing 105 serviced flats and a 143-room hotel, with shops and restaurants at ground level.
A second London project, which has received planning permission from Newham Council, is Minoco Wharf near London City Airport. Being developed by Ballymore subsidiary Clearstorm, the plans include 2,600 homes with shops, offices, and community and leisure facilities.
Ballymore will continue to be at the heart of London’s eastward expansion, having spent more than 20 years in the area from the City to City Airport. The group identified the potential for development in the Docklands area of London in the early 1990s. Its two earliest projects were Dundee Wharf and Millennium Harbour.
Following an extensive business review over the past six months, there have been changes to the management structure of the group.
David Brophy, formerly group chief operating officer, has been appointed group chief executive replacing Sean Mulryan, the group’s founder, who will now become executive chairman.
Sean Mulryan will concentrate on the identification of new opportunities and direct all the subsequent creative and design process. As an international industry leader, renowned for his vision and creativity, the new structure will enable the group to grow at a measured pace. David Brophy will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the group.
