According to a recent study, 55% of homeowners depend on an estate agent to value their property and 85% rely on an estate agent to sell their home. Avoiding this method and selling your own property could result in a quicker sale. By selling your home on the internet, it could take just 2 months to get a sale. With an estate agent, it could take an average of 3 months.
1% of homeowners have been successful selling their property on auction websites, such as eBay. 8% use DIY sales websites and the same percentage use word of mouth.
It is advised that should homeowners choose to sell their own home, research must be done to ensure they are putting a realistic valuation on their property.
