Home Information Pack roll-out on hold

Home Information Packs (Hips) were launched on 1st August this year for 4-bedroom properties and rolled out to 3-bedroom houses on 10th September. Currently, they cover roughly 63% of all housing stock in England and Wales.
The Government has been pushing for a full roll-out to include all properties but it has been put on hold as the market works through current uncertainty. The mortgage market is experiencing instability and this has had a bearing on the planned Hips roll-out.
Speaking at the Association of Home Information Pack Providers’ (AHIPP) annual conference, the Rt. Hon. Iain Wright, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Housing and Planning said that this volatility was the only reason for postponing Hips.
Dominic Toller, director of marketing and new business at Hip provider LMS said they are pleased to hear that the Government are monitoring closely the effect Hips have had to date.
Mr Toller added that this news will also be welcomed by the many Home Inspectors and Domestic Energy Assessors who are ready to support the final stage of implementation.
