Location still most important factor in UK property market

According to a housing market survey by Savills, 80% said location is still the most important factor in the UK property market. The quality of the neighbourhood in which a property is located was considered significant.

Safety of the local environment and schools all related to a property’s location, costs of maintenance and the property’s exterior were also important.

In addition, the survey showed that many thought the size and layout of rooms was more important than the size of the property and the amount of rooms.

A spokesperson for Savills commented that the results of the survey reveal that a sustainable living environment is key and this should be evident to planners and housebuilders. The survey demonstrated a strong preference for being away from town and city centres where development is increasingly popular.
