Women of all ages attracted by buy-to-let

According to research by Bradford & Bingley, female investors are looking to expand their property portfolios in the buy-to-let market as a way of ensuring their financial future.

In addition, the findings have established that women of all ages have got the buy-to-let bug. 34% started investing under the age of 30 while another 20% were over 50.

Furthermore, the desire to renovate a property was also a top priority with nearly 75% saying they had already done this or would carry out this work themselves.

According to actress and property investor Fiona Fullerton, women are taking control by purchasing and doing-up properties and are being very successful at it. Many women have a strong business sense, a natural ability to multitask and an eye for design, consequently this often creates a winning formula.

According to Birmingham Midshires, returns on buy-to-let investment stood at 13% for the 12 months to July 2007. Furthermore, increasing interest rates are pushing demand for rented accommodation to record highs.
