Burnley is thought to be a property hotspot and a new university in the town could be a great opportunity for many investors. Development of the £80 million Burley College and University is already in progress on the site of Princess Way and Ashfield Road and is scheduled to open in September 2009.
Experts are forecasting good returns from investments from student accommodation. A discussion was held regarding the university and local residents were informed by property experts that Burnley was set to boom and that the student housing is a good market.
Petty Chartered Surveyors commented that the regeneration of particular areas in Burnley will be a huge boost to the area and there will be demand for housing as students move to the area to study at the college.
The new college will include a skills and adult education centre, a centre for foundation courses and degrees and a sixth form college for 1,700 students.
It is anticipated that run-down areas not too far from the new campus, such as Burnley Wood, will be redeveloped for student accommodation. However, a spokesman for UCLan said there are no plans to build student accommodation.
