Family homes will still be in demand in 2008

Despite the fact that the UK property market is expected to slow down in 2008, family homes in good locations will continue to attract high levels of demand.

This statement is from Allied Surveyors, who predict price growth of between 1% and 2% next year.

Robert Bryant-Pearson, chief executive of Allied Surveyors, believes the new year would be a "great time" for buyers to take advantage of favourable market conditions.

The company considers that, while some lenders are predicting little or no overall change in house prices for 2008, this masks the fact that there will be certain sectors that will see a decline whilst others, such as well-located family homes in the middle market, will continue to enjoy healthy demand.

However, the National Association of Estate Agents has said that price growth will remain flat in 2008, but the association thinks that consumer confidence will be boosted by interest rate cuts as the year progresses.
