A new iPhone application has been launched by, allowing iPhone users to find properties for sale in over 70 countries.

Claiming an industry first, the property portal says the app gives access to a database of 300,000 listings from international real estate agents, property developers and private individuals.

It also allows users to save favourites and view property slide shows, is compatible with Apple’s iPad and can be accessed by iPod Touch users.

The firm’s technical director, Mathew Lanham, comments: “For home buyers and investors it allows quick access to a huge selection of international listings.”

He adds: “Our sellers benefit from the global audience of users who download the app, giving them increased exposure to help sell their properties fast.”

Interest in international property does not appear to have been dulled by recent events such as the UK General Election, the Greek debt crisis and the volcanic ash cloud.

Earlier this week, reported that searches increased by 111% between April 2009 and 2010, with France, Spain and the US taking the top three spots.
