Winkleigh has been identified as the idyllic spot in which to bring up a family, the picturesque Devon village having extremely low crime figures, excellent Key Stage Two results, a wet fish shop, and average property prices of £150,837.

In its latest Family Friendly Hotspots Report, Family Investments has sifted through over 60 sets of data for every postcode in England and Wales to select locations that included other family essentials such as green spaces, an existing population of parents with young children, and local museums and theatres.

The top 20 mix of villages and towns includes truly rural locations such as South Petherton in Somerset, and communities close to city centres, such as Galgate near Lancaster and Sutton Coldfield near Birmingham.

The firm’s head of savings and investments, Kate Moore, comments: “While we recognise that not everyone can lead a village life like the lucky residents of Winkleigh, our number one hotspot, we hope the factors we’ve identified will help families across the country when considering a new area to live.”

She adds: “Affordability is a huge consideration for families, with the rising cost of living and … that’s why the Family Friendly Hotspots Report uses affordability as a crucial measure of suitability for families.”
