A leading Swedish property investment firm has plans to break into the UK private rented sector, The Financial Times reports.
According to the newspaper, Akelius is interested in mid-market blocks of flats in the London area, and has appointed real estate advisor, CBRE, to seek out suitable properties.
Outside Sweden, Akelius’ residential portfolio currently extends to Germany.
Earlier this week, property specialist, DTZ, called on the Government to act as “market maker” behind a new housing development model that would involve major financial institutions providing long-term investment in new build homes for rent.
The firm wants ministers to “knock heads together” and take the lead in attracting institutional investment into new homes, without delay.
