Shrewd buy-to-let investors buy new build homes

Two-thirds of new build homes built are sold as property investments rather than to new owner-occupiers and it has emerged that a large amount of new build homes in London are being bought by buy-to-let investors.

There has been a complete turnaround in this industry from selling to new owner-occupiers to now selling to property investors.

House prices are still on the increase and owner-occupiers are being pushed out of the market by the buy-to-let investors.

Many first time buyers are finding it increasingly difficult to get onto the property ladder as they are unable to buy homes within their budget.

The Chartered Institute of Housing has pressured the government into building 70,000 affordable homes each year to deal with the UK’s lack of housing.

It is believed that a typical buy-to-let investor now has a portfolio of 5 properties.
