Channel 4 Dispatches seeks First Time Buyers

Channel 4’s Dispatches programme is looking for people looking to get onto the property ladder for the first time, so that the real life problems of buying property can be documented in the program.

To be filmed by Steve Boulton Productions, the company aims to highlight the various difficulties first time buyers can face, and how different problems and challenges can be solved, or not.

According to Natalie Long, one of the production company researchers, Dispatches are ideally looking to follow people with differing personal circumstances, such as an individual professional, a young family, and those with or with equity investment from parents and family.

It comes at a time when problems of getting on the UK property ladder are well documented, with rising interest rates coupled with runaway property inflation creating adverse conditions for first time buyers.

The result has been record lows in the number of first time buyers, and those who can get on the property ladder risk over stretching themselves with debt if not careful, especially as some lenders are reportedly offering them up to 5 times their salary.
