Recent articles in the press about growing number of people selling their homes privately has resulted in estate agents declaring that they won’t go out of business.
There has been a slight increase in property owners choosing to sell their homes themselves. 1% of homeowners have been successful selling their property on auction websites, such as eBay.
According to the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), this method will not have a major impact on the long-established way of buying and selling homes. People will always need expert guidance and support and it can be quite a lengthy, complicated process.
On average, around 1.2 million homes are sold each year in the UK, 94% of properties are sold via an estate agent.
