A development by David Wilson Homes Southern in Overton village has been awarded a Special Commendation in the Evening Standard New Homes Awards.
The four bedroom show home at Greenfield comprises a two-storey solar space conservatory, solar heating panels and a rainwater recycling system.
Furthermore, low energy lighting is used at the development, with dedicated fittings throughout. The houses have passive stack ventilation systems to kitchens, bathrooms and en suites with the air naturally drawn upwards; creating a healthy environment and saving on electricity.
The awards ceremony was held at The Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, London and presented by comedian Rob Brydon.
Sharon Smith, sales manager for David Wilson Homes Southern, collected the award which won the category for ‘Best New Family Home with up to Five or more Bedrooms’.
Commenting on the award, Paul Crispin, managing director of David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have received this award. A great deal of thought went into the design of these striking homes to ensure they would not only look good, but also incorporate a range of environmentally-friendly elements that would allow homeowners to live well while also living responsibly“.
Sticking to the environmentally friendly theme, each property in the development is constructed with materials such as timber from well-managed sustainable forests. The majority of homes are south-facing to maximise solar power and reduce the need to use the boilers, therefore, reducing emissions.
Once the Greenfields is complete, it will comprise 75 two, three and four-bedroom houses.
Less than a mile from the development is Overton train station with direct services to London Waterloo. Furthermore, the development is just a short distance away from the M3, A303 and A34.
